Here’s another recent survey that LiveScience.com put together in 2011 to graph the paranormal beliefs in America. Do you believe in any of these? Very interesting stuff!
It’s very amusing that nearly 2/3 of people in the United States believe Ouija boards are dangerous. When they were introduced in 1890 by Elijah Bond they were considered a parlor game and harmless. The boards were not called Ouija boards until about ten years later when William Fuld took over production. They peaked in popularity under his direction between 1920 and the 1960′s. Fuld passed away in 1966 and his estate subsequently sold the rights to manufacture Ouija boards to Parker Brothers. Academic experts have repeatedly debunked the spiritual properties of the Ouija board as a hoax.

I believe in everything on this list but Ouija boards. I don’t think ghost can communicate with us in anyway, I disbelieve seeing them also. I think you feel their presence, Like when you are alone but get a strange feeling someones watching you.
This is probably the neatest chart i have ever seen. Although I do believe in ghost, I doubt they are ever seen or especially heard. Rather you can just feel their presence amongst you.

Well surveys say more than two thirds of Americans accept the existence of ghosts, visitors from outer space, astrology and other paranormal phenomena. While the more sophisticated might think of these people as crazy, social scientists take a different view.
Its upto u to decide what to believe:P

Great blog! Today, belief in the paranormal is fed by the many movies and television programs about ghosts and UFOs. Look at how many paranormal shows there are. There are paranormal reality shows. There are television networks devoted only to the paranormal now, so it has become an interesting part of our culture..:-))

Hi Gina,
There is a definite link between what people believe and what they see in the news and on television. I will write more about that in a future post.

I think people generally believe in the paranormal for lots of different reasons. But one of the most common reasons is because they themselves have had an experience that they cannot explain in any other terms. Another reason is that there may be someone that they know and trust and respect who tells them about an experience second-hand that they accept can’t be explained in any other terms. But in addition to that, you’ve also got, what I would say, is a very pro paranormal bias in the media and in society generally so most programs on the paranormal are actually pushing the side of it that there are these things we can’t explain in scientific terms and that make the universe a more interesting and mysterious place.

I think there’s more that meets the eye on lots of things in our world so absolutely there is something else going on!
